This $236M casino complex consists of 5 uniquely themed restaurants and 85,000sf of gaming floor. Bold planes of light flow and weave through the ceiling to suggest the undulating colorful ribbons reminiscent of the client’s Native American ribbon dance. Architecturally complex soffits intertwine with continually changing elevation and angles, complicating illumination of the vertical surfaces that alternate between sides. Crystal lattice in tight swirls are illuminated with linear strips hidden in slots, suggesting the dancer’s fringe. Tall translucent cylinders using programmable RGB lamps add a third element suggesting beadwork.
Varied ‘looks’ are achieved through programmable-color LEDs hidden within the recessed slots to wash down strands of ribbon, creating a luxurious feel. Groups of pendants hung together around columns emphasizes height and monumentality within the space. A 16,000-gallon shark tank behind the bar is a focal point with submersible & flood lighting. Exciting lighting effects during peak attendance meant reversing fish “day” and “night” to balance the aquatic health and reduce algae growth.
